So. My birthday! First off, fucking hell I'm 21! So, I got up at 9am having not slept particularly well before then, I had gone to bed at midnight yesterday to ensure much sleep, and woke up at 2.37 in the AM! Not fair. Utterly not fair! Anyway so I got out of bed and went and fed the cats (and wondered where the post was). Then I found choccies and a card from my Daddy on my chair - luckily it was early, if they'd been there all day they'd have been *very* gooey! Then I woke him up so he could give me a cuddle and say Happy Birthday before I left, then I buggered off to the station and while I was walking down the street (to a couple of obnoxious van driver's horns going) I got a phone call from
x_tn aka
christn to wish me happy birthday, which was really lovely! I also text messages from loads of people, I tried to say thanks to all of them, but if I missed you I'm sorry, and thanks for the birthday wishes! I met
paranoid_blonde and
keith_hood at London Bridge and we had a locational worry, because we didn't know where we were going, because we didn't know what we were going to do apart from Camden! We decided to find the Walkabout we'd been to once before, which was down from Covent Garden, but of course CG station is closed because it's on the circle line, so we had to go to Leicester Square and walk, and my ancient AtoZ came into it's own (after some arguing!). So we went to Covent Garden and went for a nice wander through (and I got presents - a cute kitty vest from PB and K gave me a black t with a 'how to drop your boyfriend' cartoon on it, which is a little funny if you think about it!).
We were just wandering into the square where they do the street performances, and the church bells started ringing - it was midday. I've never known anywhere so still and silent as that small square was. The cars stopped, the coffee machines stopped, it was as if someone had frozen everyone in time (except for a tourist who coughed a couple of times, but that can't be helped!), it was simply beautiful, and I'm even more proud of my city than I already was. I think if I get any more proud I'll burst! Then after the time had elapsed (and I think it was a little longer than 2 minutes, but noone minded) as if we'd all come to a decision, life started again - a car started up and people started moving. It was quite a surreal experience. We decided to go and get lunch after that (typical us, no?) and wandered down to the embankment where we walked along to the sound of my voice saying "you've gone the wrong way Keith" and managed to find Walkabout without too much trouble at all.
We had a drink each, then decided on food and a pitcher of Tasmanian Island Iced Tea to wash it down (Vodka, Gin, Rum, Cointreau, Sour mix, and Coke - Quite leathal but lov-ley!) We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and decided to toddle to Camden after all, where I got
another lovely skirt, as did
paranoid_blonde, and went... you guessed it, to the pub. PB and I had another leathal cocktail that I haven't tried before - an ultra-violet (I think feel free to correct me). And it is that - violet! Then I decided to go home for my dinner (DE-licious), which I did, while PB and K mooched around in bromley with their dinner and then I met them again in The Railway for a quick drink and a post mortem of the day and then we went home, and now I'm going to bed.
And that was a very run on sentence. Maybe I'll fix it when I'm less tired. As it is I am knackered so I am going to *BED*. I shall see lots of you tomorrow at 8 in the Railway.
Oooh. I just remembered I was going to put a bit in here about the tube. I'm a claustrophobic, so I don't like the tube (especially when it stops just outside a station and you can see the walls on both sides, *panics*) but I did feel that there was something different about it. Also when we passed through Kings Cross on the way home (we didn't stop obviously - it's still a massive CSI scene) but I looked out of the windows and I felt that same pride I had in Covent Garden. *luffs London*
Now. I'm really going to bed this time.
